38 years after the releasing the blak pride classic Black Boy, iconic and indefatigable Indigenous rock-reggae band Coloured Stone brings its arsenal of timeless tunes to The Weary Traveller. 

Mirning Senior Elder Bunna Lawrie formed the band with family members in the late 70s on the Kooniba Mission in the Northern Territory, and has toured with it near constantly ever since.

As an antidote to his experiences of racism and discrimination, Lawrie’s lyrics powerfully express blak pride, positivity and connection to Country and Culture “to be the hope and inspiration and to strengthen our people's lives”.

In acknowledgement of his impact, Lawrie became the first Aboriginal Australian to receive the coveted Don Banks Music Award, a prize usually reserved for Australian classical musicians.

As catchy as it is poignant, Coloured Stone’s music has soundtracked Australian festivals, concert halls and pubs for almost four decades. This national treasure will be right at home at The Weary Traveller, with support from Bunna's son and established singer-songwriter Jason Lee Scott.
