Siteworks 2022: From a deep valley draws on climate research and the concept of the weather report. Bringing together 25 artists and 15 scientific researchers, Siteworks 2022 positions the artist as a weather balloon, capturing and presenting a collection of reports about our place and time.
Over two weekends during the Sydney Festival season, Bundanon will become a hive of activity with performances, outdoor installations, talks and debates, walks and workshops spread across Bundanon’s 1000-hectare wildlife sanctuary.
Performers and presenters include local First Nations leaders Uncle Noel Butler, Aunty Deidre Martin, and Jacob Morris; artists Rebecca Mayo, Erica Seccombe, and Kate Scardifield; and researchers Pauline Jones, Dr Noel Cressie (National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia), Dr Beth Mott, and Jedda Lemmon.
Responding to the architecture of the Art Museum buried into the hillside at Bundanon, six Australian artists will investigate the complex relationship between body and site using repurposed natural materials such as plant and animal matter, beeswax, animal skins, oyster shells and algae. The new exhibition Inside, underground presents new sculptural commissions by artists Carolyn Eskdale, Susan Jacobs, Kate Scardifield, Lucy Simpson and Isadora Vaughan.
Extend your Sydney Festival experience and spend the weekend at Bundanon, fully immersed in the stunning natural landscape. Overnight experience packages will be on offer for Sydney Festival guests.
Packages include accommodation in Bundanon’s new award-winning Bridge accommodation, designed by Kerstin Thompson Architects, as well as dining experiences curated and prepared by Bundanon’s Executive Chef, Douglas Innes-Will.
