FAQs

How fit do I need to be to take this class?
Retrosplash! is appropriate for all ages over 16 and fitness levels. The Retrosweat instructors make sure the fittest of the fit will still feel the burn, whilst always providing easier options to the routine if you’re after a more relaxed work out. This is a fun cardio workout, so you can take it at your own pace.  

Do I need to be a good swimmer?
No, just a competent wader. The pool is set at 1.4 metres depth from end to end, so you will not be required to swim.  

Is the pool heated? 
Sure is.

What should I wear?
80s-wear is optional, but strongly encouraged! We can’t wait to see what 80s swimmers, visors and exercise stylin' you rustle up.  

There’ll be a space to hang when not in the pool, so not all of your ‘fit needs to be pool-friendly, however when in the water, please ensure that all fabrics are appropriate for use in the pool. 

There is strictly no glitter allowed. 

What should I bring? 
We’ll provide you with a pool noodle as part of the show, but you’ll need to bring your swimmers and a towel as essentials. We also recommend bringing a camera (for our Instagram space), money for food and drinks, and as many of your mates as you can muster.  

Is there a place to store my valuables?
Lockers are provided free of charge, and there will be space around the immediate pool vicinity to leave your items close by. 

Is there food and beverage at the event? 
Yes, non-alcoholic drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. 

Can I enjoy the rest of Ashfield Aquatic Centre before or after the performance?
Your Retrosplash! ticket is only valid for the event. If you’d like to further enjoy your time in the water at Ashfield Acquatic Centre, you’ll need to exit and enter again via the main entrance, and pay the pool entry fee as normal.  

If you choose to swim at Ashfield Aquatic Centre before the event, please ensure you are back at the entry before the show time with your ticket to enter the event area. 

How do I get there? 
Ashfield Aquatic Centre is easily accessed by public transport, and also has parking facilities. Please see 'getting there' section on venue website for more details.
